Borowy, Packers Beat Traders, 10-9
|
Cincinnati center fielder George Borowy was instrumental in helping the Packers triumph, 10-9, over the Chicago Traders. Borowy went 3 for 4 with 2 doubles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 4. Joe Clabaugh got the win, improving to 3-1. He pitched 6 innings, giving up 9 hits and 5 runs, while striking out 4 and walking 2. Dave Young finished the game for Cincinnati and earned his 1st save.
With Cincinnati leading 6-5 in the top of the eighth, Borowy hit a splitter from Jimmy Calhoun for a 2-run double. It was his 2nd double of the season and put the Packers ahead, 8-5.
"It's nice to step up when your team needs you," said Borowy.
The win gives Cincinnati a record of 13-10.
