Skidding Traders Lose 6th Straight
|
The Brooklyn Bluebirds topped the Chicago Traders, 3-2, in National Baseball League action at Flatbush Park. The game was highlighted by the performance of Brooklyn pitcher Jorge Sandoval. Brooklyn reliever Bob Hill picked up the win to move to 3-2. Jimmy Calhoun suffered the loss. The Traders fall to 8-14 and continue their unimpressive start to the 1972 season.
Brooklyn got a knockout punch from John Seidler. The pinch hitter hammered a solo home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to win the game. It might've been his only hit, but it decided the outcome.
"Getting ahead of the hitters was the key," said Sandoval.
