Dairymen Win, 6-3, Versus Cincinnati
|
Eager fans turned out for a matchup between the Milwaukee Dairymen and Cincinnati Packers.
The Dairymen grabbed a win, 6-3, at Roman Arena, overcoming a fine effort from Cincinnati pitcher Chris Montgomery. Montgomery went 7 innings and allowed 2 runs. Pete Costabile snagged the win in relief. He goes to 2-1 on the season. Brian Alfieri suffered the loss.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Ruben Galvan? The two-time All-Star Galvan stroked a bases-clearing double in the top of the eighth inning to put Milwaukee up, 5-3. For the game, he was 2 for 4, including 1 double and 1 single.
"Good baseball players make you a smarter manager," said Milwaukee manager Brandon Dudley.
The Packers fall to 8-16 and continue their lackluster start in 1973.
