Industrials Win Nail-Biter in 16
|
In a low-scoring tilt between the Pittsburgh Industrials and the Philadelphia Quakers, Gene Steinhauer, who is tied for 7th in the NBL in quality starts with 4, was the difference-maker. The Pittsburgh right-hander spearheaded the 2-1 win in 16 innings. Rick Golia notched the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings. His record now sits at 1-1. The win brings the Industrials to 13-10, a promising start as the team looks to return to the playoffs.
The decisive blow was delivered by Don Keough in the bottom of the 16th when he hit a solo home run off 27-year old right-handed pitcher Jeff Hurley to win the game for Pittsburgh. The home crowd went nuts.
"Thought I threw pretty well and overall I felt good," said Steinhauer.
