Empires Upend Hawks, 7-2
|
The game between New York and Chicago is in the books, despite a little rain.
The New York Empires beat the Chicago Hawks, 7-2, at Hyde Park Stadium. The win was due in part to first baseman Mark Goen, who was 2 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Andy Humphrey picked up the win with 5.1 innings of work. He allowed 2 runs on 4 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 3. On the season, he is now 3-2.
Early in the game, Goen had a 3-run home run for New York. It was his 1st home run of the season and put the Empires on top, 3-0.
Goen attributed the win to "everyone pulling their weight."
The Hawks fall to 8-14 and continue to sputter in the early going.
