Seagulls Held in Check by Wolverines, Lose, 5-1
|
The home crowd had a good time watching the San Francisco Seagulls and Detroit Wolverines get after it.
Detroit Wolverines starter Scott Litwak turned in a top-notch performance against the San Francisco Seagulls at Wolverine Field. The result was a win for the Wolverines, 5-1. Litwak, now 1-0, was the winner. In 8.1 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 5, walking 2, and allowing 1 run.
The Wolverines got a big at-bat from left fielder Eddie Estrada. For the game, Estrada went 1 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the fourth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 1st home run of the season gave Detroit a 2-0 lead.
"We had a good game plan," Litwak said, "and we were able to execute it."
Despite the loss, San Francisco still owns an impressive 15-8 record.
