Bobcats Lose at Home, 7-3
|
The Washington Eagles beat the Cleveland Bobcats, 7-3, at Lakefront Stadium. The win was due in part to first baseman John Ellison, who was 2 for 3 with 2 singles and 2 walks. Washington reliever Mark Sanders picked up the win to move to 1-1. Myron Baird suffered the loss. Washington is off to a sluggish start, getting just their 7th win in 24 games.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Jerry Duersch? The Washington third baseman had a run-scoring single in the top of the third inning to put the Eagles on top, 4-3. For the game, Duersch had 1 double and 2 singles in 5 at-bats.
"You work hard, day in and day out, hoping to give the fans something to cheer about. Today was a good day," Ellison told the Washington Chronicle.
