St. Louis right fielder Gary Parker had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Parker was 2-4 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 2, even as Denver beat the Explorers, 6-4, in 10 innings. With the loss, St. Louis is 12-12.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Jim Bitting? The 26-year old center fielder Bitting stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put Denver up, 5-4. For the game, he was 2 for 5, including 1 double and 1 single.
"No complaints from me," said Burros manager Clark Anderson. "I like what I saw out there."
