Hurons Grind Out 2-1 Win
|
Montreal pitcher Rich Barron gave the Hurons all they could handle, but in the end, Toronto left Dominion Field with a win, 2-1. Barron allowed 2 runs on 2 hits over 6.2 innings. Tom DeGagne picked up the win, lifting his record to 2-0 on the season. He struck out 3 and walked 6 in 7 innings, while yielding 1 run. Randy Robins locked down his 2nd save.
Had Steve Holley not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Holley hit a 2-run single. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Hurons.
"At the end of the day, it's always about your starting pitcher," said Toronto skipper Jim Burns.
With the win, Toronto elevates its record to 10-14.
