Chicago Beats Brooklyn, 2-1
|
Chicago Traders pitcher Jack Storey was all business, helping his team muzzle the Brooklyn Bluebirds, 2-1. The winning pitcher was Storey, now 1-1. He tossed 7.1 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 5 and fanning 4. William Matz earned the save, his 1st.
Fran Precourt, who is tied for 3rd in the NBL in triples with 3, helped out the Chicago cause in the top of the sixth inning with a run-scoring single. For the game, the center fielder was 2 for 4 with a double.
"Tough loss," said Brooklyn manager John Meeker. "But that's how the cookie crumbles."
