Down to Defeat Goes Philadelphia, 6-1
|
The San Diego Captains picked up a win at San Diego Sporting Complex, downing the Philadelphia Quakers, 6-1. On the mound for San Diego was right-hander Joe Dollins, who played a pivotal role in the win. The win gives San Diego a record of 15-10.
Norm Lane's at-bat in the bottom of the seventh was significant, coming with the bases loaded and the game tied, 1-1. The San Diego third baseman hit a 2-run single off Fred Harrison to put the Captains up.
"I thought Joe threw the ball well across the board," said San Diego manager Joe Mack.
