Bobcats Lose, 5-0, to Washington
|
Right-hander Bob Viola mesmerized the Cleveland Bobcats while leading the Washington Eagles to a 5-0 victory. Viola, the winner, moves to 2-2. He threw 7.1 innings of 2-hit ball, while fanning 2 and giving up 4 walks. The Eagles, with just their 8th win so far in 1971, have yet to catch fire.
Washington first baseman John Ellison contributed a timely at-bat in the top of the second. With two down, he hit a fastball to center field for a 2-run single. It was his 24th hit of the season and put the Eagles ahead, 3-0.
"I made a lot of good pitches," said Viola. "I was right where I wanted to be."
