Burros Fall Short, 3-2, at St. Louis
Starting pitcher Bob Trout gave the St. Louis Explorers a rock-solid performance, helping his team defeat the Denver Burros, 3-2, at Corps of Discovery Stadium. Picking up the save was Bernie Tate, his 5th. The Burros, now 7-19, continue their sluggish start.

Scott Stevens went 1-3 for St. Louis. The 22-year old catcher had a key at-bat in the bottom of the sixth. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 2-2 tie with a run-scoring ground out off Jeff Munoz. It was his 3rd RBI of the season.

Stevens called the win the result of "everyone being in sync."
