Losing Trend Continues for Los Angeles
Manny Esparza, who led the ABL in ERA with 2.04 in 1969, imposed his will on the Pobladores from the get-go. Relying mainly on his sinker, the right-hander spearheaded the 4-0 Montreal triumph. The loss drops the Los Angeles record to a disappointing 10-14.

Daniel Chavez, who led the ABL in stolen bases with 50 last year, had a direct impact on the outcome. Chavez contributed a run-scoring double in the top of the fifth inning to put Montreal up, 2-0.

"I put my work in and trusted the process," said Esparza.
