Knickerbockers Pull Out Late Win, 5-4
The 5-4 New York win over Milwaukee was due largely to Jeff Madsen. The Knickerbockers left fielder went 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. The Dairymen fall to 10-16 and continue their uninspiring start to the 1974 season.

The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the ninth. With two out, Madsen hit a fastball from Pete Costabile for a run-scoring single. The Knickerbockers, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.

"He who laughs last laughs best," Madsen said, postgame.
