Pobladores Score Late to Beat Hurons, 6-5
|
Los Angeles left fielder Paul McCarthy contributed significantly to his team's 6-5 win over the Toronto Hurons. McCarthy, who is tied for 7th in the ABL in total bases with 47, went 2 for 2 with 1 run scored to lead the offensive attack for the Pobladores. Los Angeles pitcher Phil Lester earned the win, hiking his record to 4-2. Ron Haney suffered the loss. The defeat makes the Hurons 10-15.
Had McCarthy not come through in the bottom of the eighth, who knows how the game would've ended? But with two down, McCarthy hit a 2-run single. The Pobladores took the lead, 6-4, and never looked back.
"Honestly, I'm not frustrated," said Toronto manager Jim Burns. "The effort was great."
