No one was more impactful than Mike Wells in the 8-2 Houston win over Baltimore. Wells, who finished 4th in the ABL in on-base percentage with .400 in 1970, was 4 for 5 with a double and 3 singles, while scoring 2. After losing, Baltimore is 11-15.

Wells had no bigger at-bat than in the top of the sixth when the 27-year old left fielder hit a double. The double gave Houston the lead, 3-2. It was his 7th double of the season.
