Victory Over Seagulls Takes Montreal to 20-5
|
The Montreal Habitants beat the San Francisco Seagulls, 7-1, at LaSalle Stadium. Starting pitcher Oscar Rodela was a big reason why. He held his opponent in check all game. In 6 innings, Rodela surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 2 and walking 1. He allowed 1 run. Montreal, now 20-5, is setting the league on fire so far.
The Habitants got a big at-bat from catcher Emanuel Santiago. For the game, Santiago was 1-4 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the second, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 3rd home run of the season gave Montreal a 3-0 lead.
"We're in a marathon, not a sprint," said Santiago. "But I like how we're playing right now."
