Generals Prevail, 3-1, Over Los Angeles
|
Gary Ovitt, who is tied for 2nd in the ABL with a 1.31 ERA, never let the Pobladores get in a groove. The right-hander used his bread and butter, his sinker, to pitch the Generals to a win, 3-1. Ovitt got the win, improving to 5-0. He gave up 4 hits and walked 2 over 7 innings. He allowed 1 run. Atlanta is now 18-7.
Ed Mika, who is tied for 2nd in the ABL with a .454 on-base percentage, took Los Angeles hurler Rick Beasley deep in the bottom of the third. His 2-run home run put the Generals on top, 2-1. In all, Mika had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.
"Tough loss," said Los Angeles manager Alex Wobbema. "But we'll learn from it."
