Seagulls Lose to Pobladores, 4-1
|
The Los Angeles Pobladores went home winners at San Vicente Park, thanks in large part to starter Bob Powell. Powell stifled the San Francisco Seagulls, enabling Los Angeles to grab the 4-1 win. Powell yielded 1 run over 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 7 hits, walked 1, and struck out 1. His record improves to 1-0. Leon Fairley finished to wrap up his 1st save.
The Pobladores got a big at-bat from first baseman Chuck Gunter. For the game, Gunter was 2 for 4 with a home run and a triple. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the first, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 1st home run of the season gave Los Angeles a 2-0 lead.
"I still think this team can play even better," Gunter told the Los Angeles Today.
San Francisco falls to 1-2.
