Cincinnati Upended, 3-1, by Los Angeles
|
Starting pitcher Larry Messenger gave the Los Angeles Blockbusters a rock-solid effort. The Chicago, Illinois native helped his team defeat the Cincinnati Packers, 3-1, at Roman Arena. In 7.2 innings, Messenger surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 1. He allowed 1 run. The Packers, now 9-20, continue their poor start.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Norm Parsons? The 28-year old center fielder Parsons stroked a 2-run double in the top of the seventh inning to put Los Angeles up, 2-0. For the game, he was 3 for 4, including 2 doubles and 1 single.
"We're in a little funk right now and we've just got to get ourselves out of it," said Cincinnati manager Martin Abresch.
