Though he had a terrific game, Leo Sentner could not prevent his team, the Denver Burros, from absorbing a loss. St. Louis won the game, 6-5. Sentner was 3 for 4 with 3 singles and a walk. The win was credited to 21-year old left-handed pitcher Jorge Gonzalez in relief. His record improves to 2-0. Bob Langham took the loss. The win gives St. Louis a record of 18-11.

With the bases empty and no one out in the top of the eighth inning, right fielder Gary Parker delivered big for the Explorers. St. Louis was trailing 5-4 when he belted a solo home run.

"We found a way to get it done," Parker said.
