Explorers Lose to Quakers, 7-1
|
The Philadelphia Quakers went home winners at Quakers Stadium, thanks in large part to starter Fred Harrison. Harrison stifled the St. Louis Explorers, enabling Philadelphia to grab the 7-1 win. Harrison yielded 1 run over 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 7 hits, walked 0, and struck out 1. His record improves to 2-2. The Explorers drop to 12-17, as their stumbling start to the 1975 season continues.
Jeff Murchison, who finished 5th in the NBL in on-base percentage with .363 in 1968, took St. Louis hurler Bob Trout deep in the bottom of the first. His 2-run home run put the Quakers on top, 2-1. In all, Murchison had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.
"It wasn't a very good day at the ballpark," said St. Louis manager Ray Fleetwood.
