Empires Win at Chicago, 2-1
|
The New York Empires got a magnificent effort from pitcher Nate Frampton, who kept Chicago hitters in check en route to a 2-1 Empires win at Hyde Park Stadium. Jack Pratt recorded the save, his 4th. The Hawks fall to 12-16 and continue their sputtering start to the 1974 season.
Roger Hickey, who finished 3rd in the ABL in extra base hits with 66 last year, helped out the New York cause in the top of the sixth inning with a run-scoring double. For the game, the center fielder was 1 for 4 with a double.
"We came out on top and that's all I can ask for," said Frampton.
