Slumping Dairymen Lose Again
|
Pitching was the name of the game in a tight contest between the San Diego Captains and the Milwaukee Dairymen. San Diego won it, 2-1. San Diego starter Jack DeWitt was in command. Ed Prater recorded the save, his 7th. San Diego, now 21-9, has played well in the early going.
San Diego second baseman Jim Quinlan contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the third. With two down, he hit a fastball to center field for a run-scoring single. It was his 26th hit of the season and put the Captains ahead, 2-0.
"When you're losing, the game looks more difficult to play than it is," said Milwaukee manager Brandon Dudley.
