Quakers Continue Skid, Thanks to Wells, Knickerbockers
New York third baseman Steve Wells made his presence felt in the 8-4 Knickerbockers triumph over the Philadelphia Quakers. Wells went 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He scored 3 times and drove in 3. New York pitcher Chris Hull earned the win, hiking his record to 4-0. John Stoddard suffered the loss. The defeat makes the Quakers 9-21.

With New York leading 1-0 in the bottom of the first, Wells hit a splitter from John Stoddard for a 3-run home run. It was his 4th home run of the season and put the Knickerbockers ahead, 4-0.

Philadelphia manager Jeff Green, after yet another defeat, said: "We need to recalibrate."
