Habitants Earn Clutch Win, 4-3
|
The Montreal Habitants picked up a win at LaSalle Stadium, taking down the New York Empires, 4-3. Starting pitcher Bob Schar was a big reason why. The defeat makes New York 16-14.
The decisive blow was delivered by Jim Foulke in the bottom of the ninth when he hit a bases-clearing double off former first round draft pick Jon Pierce to win the game for Montreal. The home crowd went nuts.
"If you ever get this game figured out," said New York manager Dan Whiting, "let me know."
