Empires Lose By a Run at Montreal
|
Montreal turned a fine outing from starter Rich Barron into a victory over the New York Empires at LaSalle Stadium. The final score was 3-2. Barron picked up the win for Montreal, going 5.2 innings. He gave up 2 runs on 4 hits. He now sports a record of 1-0. The save went to Al Johns, his 1st this season.
With scoring opportunities rare, the Habitants had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the fifth, when center fielder Daniel Chavez hit a 2-run single. The single came off Nate Frampton and made the score 3-1, Habitants. Chavez was 1 for 4. He drove in 2 runs.
"Rich mixed and matched," said Montreal manager Michel Alexandre Cauchon.
The loss drops New York to 2-1.
