Lasseter Powers Hurons to 6-4 Win
|
A good performance from first baseman Max Lasseter helped the Toronto Hurons defeat the Detroit Wolverines, 6-4. Lasseter went 4 for 4 with a home run, 3 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3 for the Hurons. Dave Hamilton earned the win to go to 1-0. He allowed 1 run on 4 hits, with 1 walk and 6 strikeouts in 5.2 innings of work. Mike Hanlon, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 1st save.
Toronto used a well-timed hit by Steve Holley to capture the win. The left fielder socked a 2-run double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Hurons ahead, 3-1. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
"It's nice to deliver when your team's counting on you," said Lasseter.
Detroit drops to 1-2.
