Eagles Lose at Home, 3-1
|
Monument Field was the site of a tense game between the Washington Eagles and Cleveland Bobcats.
Cleveland Bobcats starter Roger Scherf hurled his team past the Washington Eagles, 3-1. Scherf picked up the win for Cleveland, going 7.1 innings. He gave up 1 run on 8 hits. He now sports a record of 5-2. The save was credited to Tim Fried, his 4th.
The Bobcats got a big at-bat from first baseman Harold Batkin. For the game, Batkin went 1-4 with a home run and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the top of the third, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 2nd home run of the season gave Cleveland a 3-1 lead.
"We made a couple of mistakes," said Washington skipper Juan Placeholder, "and it cost us."
After losing, Washington is 18-12.
