Crowell Shines in 9-4 Cleveland Win
|
With center fielder Tom Crowell leading the charge, the Cleveland Bobcats defeated the New York Knickerbockers, 9-4, at Lakefront Stadium. Crowell, who is tied for 6th in the NBL with a .412 on-base percentage, was 3-5 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 times and drove in 5. The winning pitcher was Tim McDonald. His record now stands at 3-1. The left-hander went 9 innings, allowing 4 runs on 11 hits for the Bobcats. Cleveland goes to 16-15.
With Cleveland leading 2-0 in the bottom of the third, Crowell hit a sinker from Harry Melendez for a 3-run home run. It was his 9th home run of the season and put the Bobcats ahead, 5-0.
"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling confident after that win," said Crowell.
