Milwaukee beat Los Angeles at Milwaukee Municipal Stadium, escaping with a 7-6 win. The win in large part was due to third baseman Gary Branan. He went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs. The winner was Milwaukee reliever Lewis Smith, now 1-1. The loser was Joe Hamby. With the win, Milwaukee boosts its record to 16-16.

Gary Austin, the 18th overall pick in the 1964 draft, helped out the Milwaukee cause in the bottom of the fifth inning with a run-scoring single. For the game, the pinch hitter went 1-1.

"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Austin told the Milwaukee Today.
