The Washington Eagles got a stellar performance from pitcher Dave Alexander, who handcuffed the Brooklyn offense en route to a win, 3-1, at Flatbush Park. In 9 innings, Alexander surrendered 10 hits, while striking out 3 and walking 2. He allowed 1 run. The Bluebirds drop to 12-19.
The Eagles got a big at-bat from center fielder Jeff Lawler. For the game, Lawler went 3 for 4 with a triple and a double. He drove in 3 runs. In the top of the fourth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 2-run triple. His 3rd triple of the season gave Washington a 2-0 lead.
