|
The Washington Eagles defeated the Cleveland Bobcats, 5-3, in National Baseball League action at Monument Field. Washington pitcher Tom McAteer had a standout performance. Washington is clipping along at 19-12.
Randy Golick, who finished 5th in the NBL in wins above replacement with 6.4 in 1964, chipped in a 3-run home run for Washington in the bottom of the first. For the game, the left fielder had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 3 runs batted in.
"I tried to mix it up, keep them off balance," said McAteer.
