Bruce Cardenas, who led the NBL in ERA with 2.15 in 1972, was locked in. The right-hander led the Cleveland Bobcats to a 6-2 win against the Brooklyn Bluebirds at Lakefront Stadium. The win gives Cleveland a record of 17-14.

Keith MacPherson hit a solo home run off Jorge Sandoval in the bottom of the sixth, which put the Bobcats ahead, 2-1. In addition to the homer, MacPherson had 1 double, while going 2 for 4.

"Bruce was Bruce," said Bobcats manager Daniel Mays. "We know what we'll get whenever he takes the mound."
