The Detroit Wolverines earned a close win over the Toronto Hurons, thanks in part to Scott Litwak. The Detroit left-hander, who finished 3rd in the ABL in wins with 18 in 1971, played a key role in the 3-2 victory. Warren Washington recorded the save, his 5th. The win brings the Wolverines to 18-13, a promising start as the team looks to return to the playoffs.

Had Troy Stallings not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 3rd, Stallings hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Wolverines.

"I was a little disappointed," said Toronto manager Jim Burns. "We could've and should've scored more runs."
