Larry Stanford, who is tied for 4th in the ABL in wins with 4, was locked in. The left-hander led the New York Empires to a 7-4 win against the Montreal Habitants at LaSalle Stadium. The winner was Stanford. He threw 7.2 innings of 6-hit ball. The loser was Rich Barron. The loss drops Montreal to 16-16.

The Empires got a big at-bat from second baseman Gary Austin. For the game, Austin went 1 for 4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the top of the first, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 2nd home run of the season gave New York a 2-0 lead.

"Larry looked very determined to have a good game," said New York manager Dan Whiting. "He was totally focused and he produced."
