Industrials Pick Up 5-1 Win Against Brooklyn
|
The Brooklyn Bluebirds went down to defeat to Bob Briggs and his Pittsburgh teammates. The final score was 5-1, in favor of the Industrials. Briggs, the winner, moves to 3-2. He threw 8 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 3 and giving up 2 walks. Brooklyn now is 20-13.
Pittsburgh used a clutch at-bat from Lew Ward to capture the win. The right fielder hammered a grand slam home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the Industrials ahead, 4-1. It was his lone hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"I think it speaks for itself, I think we came out and we played our kind of baseball," said Ward.
