Explorers Popped by Knickerbockers, 7-0
|
The New York Knickerbockers rode a solid performance from 29-year-old starting pitcher Chris Hull to a win, beating the St. Louis Explorers, 7-0, at Knickerbocker Stadium. The Knickerbockers have an impressive 21-12 record.
Ray Zink had a big bases-clearing double for the Knickerbockers in the bottom of the first inning. With New York leading 1-0 and the bases loaded, he got a sinker from 26-year old right-handed pitcher Stan Heart and swatted a double to left. It was his 5th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Knickerbockers ahead, 4-0.
"Chris was exceptional and he pitched with a purpose," said New York manager Joaquin Placeholder.
