The Houston Drillers scooped up a win at Seton Hill Stadium, dumping the Baltimore Lords, 4-1. Bill Switzer, who finished 4th in the ABL in saves with 20 in 1972, was essential to his team's success. Switzer, now 3-0, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 2 hits, while striking out 5, walking 2, and allowing 1 run. Tom McAteer was credited with the save for Houston, his 6th of the season.

Lou Ward, who finished 4th in the ABL in doubles with 37 in 1971, had a direct impact on the outcome. Ward contributed a 2-run single in the top of the seventh inning to put Houston up, 4-1.

Ward said his team "played with determination."

After today's action, Houston sits at 21-12, while Baltimore falls to 15-17.
