Empires Lose, 4-3, in 10
|
The Chicago Hawks took Nate Frampton's best shot and still were able to collect a win at Queens Field. The final score had Chicago getting past the Empires, 4-3, in 10 innings. Frampton over 7 innings allowed 2 runs on 4 hits, while striking out 6. Chicago is now 16-17, New York 24-8.
Chicago used the timely hitting of Andy Bires to seize the win. The center fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put the Hawks on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"This was one of those 'not to be denied' games," said Chicago field general Mike Flaherty.
