Traders Earn 4-1 Home Win
|
In the 4-1 Chicago win over Cincinnati, the impact of Jeff Madsen was substantial. Madsen, who is tied for 4th in the NBL in RBI with 25, went 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Gary Allen earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 2 innings. He upped his record to 3-0. The save was credited to Jimmy Calhoun, his 5th.
With Chicago leading 1-0 in the bottom of the fifth, Madsen hit a sinker from Joe Clabaugh for a 2-run home run. It was his 10th home run of the season and put the Traders ahead, 3-0.
Chicago manager Larry Link commended his team for "doing what it takes to win."
Chicago leads the National Baseball League Western Division by 2 games.
