Quakers Down Industrials, 6-3
|
The Philadelphia Quakers spoiled a good performance by Pittsburgh first baseman Tim Grange, bumping off Pittsburgh, 6-3, at Quakers Stadium. Grange was 2-3 with a home run. With the victory, the Quakers upped their record to 20-15.
An inflection point occurred with one out in the bottom of the second. That's when Quakers third baseman Mike McElhaney hit a sinker from Ron Winder for a 2-run single. Just like that, Philadelphia was up, 2-1.
"I just tried to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said McElhaney.
