The San Diego Captains topped the Cincinnati Packers, 4-3, in National Baseball League action at Roman Arena. The standout performance belonged to San Diego pitcher and Guamúchil, Mexico, native Dario Fontanez. The Captains improved their record to 16-18 with the win over Cincinnati.

Bobby Jackson, who is tied for 3rd in the NBL in RBI with 23, had a direct impact on the outcome. Jackson contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the seventh inning to put San Diego up, 4-3.

"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said San Diego manager Joe Mack. "It's usually not just one thing."
