Explorers Lose at Home, 10-6
Larry Tipton had a good game, but he could not keep the St. Louis Explorers from falling, 10-6, to the New York Knickerbockers at Corps of Discovery Stadium. The St. Louis first baseman was 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once in the loss. Danny Abril earned the save, his 1st, for the Knickerbockers. The victory gives the Knickerbockers a record of 22-12.

New York used a well-timed hit by Wayne Baker to capture the win. The right fielder socked a run-scoring double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Knickerbockers ahead, 5-4. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.

"You know, at the end of the day, it's about who scores the most runs," said New York manager William Bowen.
