Drillers Beat Baltimore, 3-2
|
Starting pitcher Rick McStay gave the Houston Drillers a rock-solid effort. The Hemet, California native helped his team defeat the Baltimore Lords, 3-2, at Sam Houston Field. Bill Switzer earned the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The left-hander allowed 1 run on 1 hit in 2.2 innings. His record is now 4-1. The win lifted the Houston record to 18-16.
Houston took a 3-1 lead on Mike Wells's 8th double of the season. The 2-run double, which Wells hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Baltimore pitcher Denny Boyd visibly frustrated.
"We came out on top and that's all I can ask for," said McStay.
