Quakers Handle Washington, Snag 9-6 Win
The Philadelphia Quakers cut down the Washington Eagles by the score of 9-6, with the largest share of the credit going to shortstop Vern Friend. Friend went 2-2 with a triple and a double, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once for the Quakers. Arnold Jarry was the winner. Over 7 innings, he yielded 6 runs on 9 hits, with 3 walks and 5 strikeouts. With the win, Philadelphia upped its record to 17-17.

With Philadelphia leading 1-0 in the bottom of the first, Friend hit a curveball from Alex Fonseca for a 2-run double. It was his 3rd double of the season and put the Quakers ahead, 3-0.

Quakers manager Jeff Green wasn't all too pleased, despite the win, telling reporters that the performance highlighted some clear areas for improvement moving forward. He refused to be more specific, however. "I'm not gonna publicize our weaknesses," he said. "That stuff stays in the clubhouse."
