Late Rally by Habitants Locks Up 6-4 Win
The Montreal Habitants withstood an impressive performance by San Francisco first baseman Bob Raab to defeat the Seagulls, 6-4, at Mission Field. Raab was 4-5 with a double and 3 singles. He drove in 3 runs. The winner in relief was Al Johns. He is now 2-0. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 2 hits in 1.1 innings. Montreal is now 26-7, 4 games up in the American Baseball League Eastern Division.

Jim Compton hit a 2-run triple off Mark Gaynor in the top of the eighth, which put the Habitants in front, 5-3. Compton had 1 single, in addition to the triple. For the game, he went 2 for 5.

In comments to the Montreal Chronicle, Compton insisted that he's not as disinterested as it often appears. "Haters will hate," he added.
