Bobcats Topple Captains, 12-7, as Crowell Shines
Cleveland center fielder Tom Crowell was instrumental in helping the Bobcats triumph, 12-7, over the San Diego Captains. Crowell went 4 for 5 with a home run, a double, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 3 times and drove in 2. Roger Scherf got the win, improving to 2-3. He pitched 6 innings, giving up 5 hits and 1 run, while striking out 0 and walking 3. The triumph puts Cleveland at 19-16 for the season.

Rick Gruber came through with a big-time hit for Cleveland. The left fielder smacked a 3-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to give his team the lead, 4-1. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.

"I'm just looking to see the ball, hit the ball," said Gruber.
