Wolverines Need Extra Frames to Get Past Seagulls
The Detroit Wolverines beat the San Francisco Seagulls, 9-5, in 10 innings. Detroit left fielder Chuck McCormick, in particular, had a fine performance. He went 3 for 3 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Reliever Paul Carter picked up the win. His record improves to 4-4. Jeff Butler, who finished 2nd in the ABL in ERA with 2.46 in 1959, took the loss. Detroit's record now stands at 17-18, placing them 4th in the American Baseball League Eastern Division.

Detroit needed the clutch hitting of Jerry Plumley to seal the deal. The center fielder swatted a solo home run in the top of the tenth inning to put the Wolverines on top, 6-5. For the game, Plumley had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.

In postgame remarks, Plumley said: "I'm proud of our guys, of their fight."
