Knickerbockers Rally Late to Nip Dairymen
The New York Knickerbockers had to overcome a fine effort from Milwaukee pitcher Ken Brown to win, 3-2, at Knickerbocker Stadium. Brown went 6.1 innings and allowed 2 runs. Reliever Ollie Hundley picked up the win. His record improves to 1-0. Bernie Kirk took the loss. With this game in the books, New York is 20-15, Milwaukee 16-19.

Up to bat in the bottom of the ninth, 36-year old first baseman Jeff Madsen had a chance to be the hero. Milwaukee pitcher Bernie Kirk wanted to foil that plan. But with one out, Madsen drew a walk, driving in 1 run. The Knickerbockers had themselves a thrilling win.

"It's great when the crowd is energized," Madsen said.
