New York took on Twin Cities in front of a lively crowd.

The New York Empires picked up a win at Queens Field, knocking off the Twin Cities Northmen, 6-4. On the mound for New York was right-hander Andy Humphrey. He played a key role in the triumph. The Empires, at 21-14, have now won 5 straight.

New York second baseman Javier Abarca contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the second. With two down, he hit a slider to right-center field for a 2-run single. It was his 23rd hit of the season and put the Empires ahead, 4-0.

"I told our guys, 'Runs don't score by themselves,'" said Abarca. "You need someone to get on base and someone to drive them in."
