Bluebirds Stumble, Lose to Dairymen
|
The 8-1 Milwaukee win over Brooklyn was due in large part to Gary Austin. The Dairymen first baseman was 2-4 with 2 doubles and a walk. He drove in 4 runs. Arnie Keilman, the winner, is now 3-3. He struck out 2 and walked 3 over 6 innings, while allowing 1 run on 7 hits. At 15-20, Milwaukee is in 5th place in the National Baseball League Western Division.
With Milwaukee leading 4-1 in the bottom of the sixth, Austin hit a fastball from Jackie Richardson for a bases-clearing double. It was his 8th double of the season and put the Dairymen ahead, 7-1.
"The effort wasn't good enough," said losing manager John Meeker.
