Burros Post 3-1 Win Over St. Louis
|
A good performance from second baseman Ricardo Castillo helped the Denver Burros defeat the St. Louis Explorers, 3-1. Castillo went 4 for 4 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs for the Burros. John Gannon got the win, improving to 4-4. He held the Explorers to 1 run on 2 hits over 6 innings, while striking out 6 and walking 1. Bob Langham finished the game for Denver and earned his 3rd save.
Nana Hubbard came through with a big-time hit for Denver. The pinch hitter smacked a 2-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to give his team the lead, 2-1. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Denver manager Clark Anderson said.
The win hiked the Denver record to 21-15.
