Houston first baseman Mike Lockhart had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Lockhart was 4-4 with a triple, a double, and 2 singles, even as Seattle beat the Drillers, 7-2. Seattle starter Paul Geary was credited with the win after throwing 108 pitches over 5 innings. His record now stands at 3-2. The setback makes Houston 22-14.
In the top of the fourth inning of a 2-2 tie, Seattle right fielder Alex Rojas reached on an error by the left fielder, driving in 1 run. It broke the deadlock and put Seattle on top, 3-2.
"I think every team will tell you that the pitching sets the tone, especially the starters," said Seattle skipper Mark Velez.
