Seagulls Top Generals in Extras, 5-2
|
The San Francisco Seagulls outlasted the Atlanta Generals, 5-2, in 10 innings. San Francisco third baseman Scott Wagner stood out with his performance. He went 2-4 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. Dave Maughan, 2-1, earned the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings. The win elevated the Seagulls to 25-11.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Jose Sosa? The 29-year old right fielder Sosa stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put San Francisco up, 3-2. For the game, he was 3 for 5, including 1 double and 2 singles.
"This level of focus will win us a lot of ballgames," Wagner said after the game.
