Explorers Win Nail-Biter
The St. Louis Explorers faced a tenacious opponent in Denver pitcher Bruce Cardenas, but still scratched out a win at Corps of Discovery Stadium by a final score of 3-2 in 14 innings. Cardenas went 12.1 innings and allowed no runs. The win for the Explorers raised their record to 21-16.

The decisive blow was delivered by Tommy Pickett in the bottom of the 14th when he hit a 2-run double off 26-year old right-handed pitcher Bob Langham to win the game for St. Louis. The home crowd went nuts.

"This house was rockin'," Pickett said.
