|
The Denver Burros saddled the Kansas City Bulls with a loss at Independence Field. The final score was 6-3. John Crabtree was 3 for 4, including 2 singles and 1 home run. The Denver first baseman scored 1 run and drove in 1. The winning pitcher was former first round draft pick Tom Reid. He tossed 102 pitches over 6.1 innings, allowing 3 runs on 8 hits. Denver used a clutch at-bat from Jim Bitting to capture the win. The center fielder hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Burros ahead, 4-3. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"The name on the front of this uniform is all that matters to me," Crabtree told the Denver Today. "And padding the Denver win column."
Denver now sits at 24-13, while Kansas City falls to 17-20.
