The Hawks grabbed a win, 5-4, at Hyde Park Stadium, overcoming a fine effort from Twin Cities pitcher Gerald Gross. Gross went 7 innings and allowed 4 runs. The loss lowers the Twin Cities record to 1-3.

Buck DeFalco, who led the ABL in batting average with .304 in 1972, helped out the Chicago cause in the bottom of the seventh inning with a 2-run double. For the game, the second baseman was 2 for 4 with 2 doubles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.

"It doesn't matter if you're 10 games over .500 or 10 games under, it feels good to win," DeFalco told the Chicago Herald.
