Bluebirds Beaten By Explorers, 4-2
|
St. Louis right-hander Pat Burkholder pitched his team to victory over the Brooklyn Bluebirds at Corps of Discovery Stadium. The final score was 4-2. Burkholder, now 1-4, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 4, walking 2, and allowing 1 run. St. Louis, at 15-21, holds down 6th place in the National Baseball League Western Division.
A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the bottom of the sixth, with the game tied, Adam Voeller was at the plate when St. Louis scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Explorers to go in front, 2-1.
"I just try to put up zeroes," said Burkholder, "and let the rest take care of itself."
