Quakers Pull Out Late Win, 7-6
|
The Philadelphia Quakers battled the Washington Eagles into extra innings before the outcome was decided. The Quakers won it, finally, 7-6, in 14 innings. In the game, Philadelphia third baseman Joe Voss went 2 for 4 with 2 singles and 4 walks, while scoring 2 times. The third-place Eagles have lost 4 consecutive games.
The Quakers got a clutch hit from right fielder Jeff Murchison. In the bottom of the 14th, he delivered a run-scoring single to win the game for the Quakers.
"Our approach was just to try to see something over the plate and be aggressive," Voss told the Philadelphia Chronicle.
